DIN Rail
A standardized 35 mm wide metal rail with hat-shaped cross section. It is widely used, especially in Europe, for mounting circuit breakers and industrial control equipment inside equipment racks.

EIA Interface
The term for a number of equipment interfaces compliant with voluntary industry standards developed by the Electronic Industries Association to define interface parameters. The telecommunication standard developing bodies of the EIA are now part of the Telecommunications Industry Association, and the standards are designated TIA/EIA-XXX.

Well Head
A term used in the oil and gas industry to describe the equipment located at the top of a well. The usual equipment is a control or choke valve to control oil/gas flow and pressure and temperature gauges. Some well heads can also include equipment to operate downhole valves or may include equipment to provide artificial lift such as a beam pump, electrical submersible pump.

Plot Plan
An engineering diagram which shows schematically the equipment layout, the position of roads, buildings and other constructions inside an industrial plant with their dimensions and distances in between. York International NYSE: YRK is manufacturer of industrial equipment for air conditioning, heating, refrigerating, etc. The company was sold to Johnson Controls, Inc. NYSE: JCI for $3.2 Billion in August 2005.

The Group's principal activities are to manufacture engines and applied machinery, hydraulic equipment and repairs. Agricultural equipment accounted for 37% of fiscal 2002 revenues; industrial machinery, 33%; construction machines, 27% and other, 3%.

Surface Mount Technology
Component placement systems are robotic machines which are used to place Surface Mount Devices (SMD’s) onto a Printed Circuit Board (PCB). They are used for high speed, high precision placing of broad range of electronic components, like capacitors, resistors, integrated circuits onto the PCB’s which are in turn used in computers, telecommunications equipment, consumer electronic goods, industrial equipment, medical instruments, automotive systems, military systems and aerospace engineering.

Acetylene Torch
Oxy-fuel welding of metal is commonly called oxyacetylene welding since acetylene is the predominant choice for a fuel, or often simply gas welding. In gas welding and cutting, the heat needed to melt the metal comes from a fuel gas burning with oxygen in a torch.

A welder is a tradesman who specialises in welding materials together. The materials to be joined can be metals (such as steel, aluminium, brass, stainless steel etc.) or varieties of plastic or polymer.
